Former Regional Superintendent of Schools, Mark Eichenlaub, Has Retired

Dr. Mark Eichenlaub of St. Clair County, Illinois has officially retired at the age of 58. After serving the education community for over 3 decades, his journey in education has come to an official end.
As stated on ROE 50's website "Dr. Mark Eichenlaub is a lifelong resident of Saint Clair County. Born and raised in Belleville, he attended Belle Valley and was a 1980 graduate of Belleville East. Continuing his education at McKendree University (Bachelor of Science), SIU-E (Master of Science in Education – Educational Administration and Supervision), he ultimately earned his Doctor of Education from Saint Louis University in 2003.
Dr. Eichenlaub began his teaching career as a 7th grade teacher at Belle Valley South in 1991. His administrative transition began in 1995 when he was named Dean of Students and later became Principal at Belleville Central Junior High School. He also served as Principal of Jefferson Elementary School. In 2009, he became an administrator at Southwestern Illinois College where he served as Vice-President for several years. In 2018, Dr. Eichenlaub returned to K-12 education as the Assistant Regional Superintendent of Schools for Saint Clair County ROE #50. He was appointed Regional Superintendent of Schools in October 2020.
Dr. Eichenlaub’s passion is to serve the underserved, educate the undereducated, and serve those living in poverty and facing the daily struggles and challenges. Character Education has been the cornerstone of his philosophy, and leading a high poverty school to being recognized nationally as one of ten National Schools of Character exemplifies his commitment to his passion.
Married for 27 years, Mark and his wife Karen have three children – Ellie (The University of Chicago), CJ (Freeburg High School), and Nathan (Freeburg Grade School)."
